Selu Herraiz es director artístico de Rota —festival de arte sonoro y músicas raras—, cofundador del sello de música experimental Aldarrax y miembro de la plataforma AADK Spain, con sede en el entorno rural del Valle de Ricote (Murcia, España).
Estudió Ingeniería Electrónica en la UPCT. Practica el arte como excusa para habitar y busca una integración del acto creativo en la vida cotidiana con el fin de activar la transformación social y estimular el pensamiento crítico. Combina su investigación personal con el diseño de experiencias educativas.
Se aproxima a la creación desde la relación con el territorio y las comunidades. Su trabajo reflexiona sobre las relaciones entre lo cotidiano y lo ritual en la época contemporánea. Investiga las nuevas simbologías y las formas en que afectan al subconsciente humano y determinan nuestras posibles vías de transformación.
Navega en los intersticios entre el consciente y el inconsciente, la ciencia y la magia, la sabiduría antigua y el conocimiento actual; donde la realidad física y la espiritual se sincronizan en ritmos comunes dando lugar a mundos simbólicos que ayudan a crear nuevos imaginarios sobre un habitat no sólo humano.
Ha combinado la práctica subversiva y el trabajo experimental con acciones y participaciones en importantes instituciones. Su trabajo se ha mostrado en espacios y festivales tales como Hau (Berlín), Zero Cohession (Berlín), Ayrarat (Yerevan), Worm Studio (Roterdam), Zero Point (Berlín), Qu-o2 (Brusselas), Tanz Kongress 2019 (Dresden, Alemania), Festival Cumplicidades (Lisboa), Media Art Festival (Leuvardeen, Holanda), Media Lab Prado (Madrid), MNCA Reina Sofía (Madrid), Desterro (Lisboa), Centro Negra (Blanca, Murcia), COAM (Madrid), Real Academia de BB.AA de San Fernando (Madrid), Centro Párraga (Murcia), CC Puertas de Castilla (Murcia), Matadero (Madrid), Espacio Fundación Telefónica (Madrid), Hiroshima (Barcelona), PinPanPun (Valencia), Espai Erre (Barcelona), Mubam (Murcia), Alg-a Lab (Galicia) y El Quirófano (Murcia), entre otros.

PROYECTOS EN COMUNIDAD:
·SONORA -ESCUELA DE EXPERIMENTACIÓN-
una escuela que trabaja en la educación a través del sonido, con el objetivo de promover una pedagogía basada en la creación, así como promover nuevas formas de aprendizaje y pensamiento contemporáneo. El proyecto busca generar comunidad a través de la creación colectiva, el juego y la reflexión, abordando temas de género y diversidad cultural que promueven actitudes de colaboración, confianza y respeto.
La música (sonido) es una herramienta que facilita la concentración y el encuentro con el mundo interior de personas de cualquier edad y origen. Usando este canal, Sonora desea facilitar experiencias transformadoras a través del sonido para construir otro imaginario y estimular la conciencia ecológica que nos ayuda a percibir el planeta como un ser vivo al que pertenecemos y NO como un objeto que nos pertenece.
·DE LA RAIZ AL NOISE -FESTIVAL DE MÚSICAS RARAS- creado por Selu Herraiz y Elena Azzedin con la idea de generar nuevas comunidades en torno al sonido y afectar a diversos públicos. La propuesta es un programa de sonido que dibuja el espectro entre la música tradicional y el sonido posindustrial. Un sonido único creado especialmente para el evento por artistas experimentales interesados en ambos polos.

Selu Herraiz (Murcia, 1981)
Selu Herraiz is a Spanish audiovisual artist. He is the artistic director of Rota —a sound art and rare music festival—, co-founder of the experimental music label Aldarrax and a member of the AADK Spain platform based in Valle de Ricote (Murcia, Spain).
They studied Electronic Engineering at the UPCT. She practices art as an excuse to inhabit and seeks to integrate the creative act into daily life in order to activate social transformation and stimulate critical thinking. They combine their personal research with the design of educational experiences.
They approache creation from the relationship with the territory and the communities. Their work reflects on the relationships between the everyday and the ritual in contemporary times. They investigate the new symbologies and the ways in which they affect the human subconscious and determine our possible paths of transformation.
They navigate the interstices between the conscious and the unconscious, science and magic, ancient wisdom and current knowledge; where physical and spiritual reality are synchronized in common rhythms giving rise to symbolic worlds that help to create new imaginaries about a not only human habitat.

SONORA -EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC SCHOOL-
SONORA is a school of experimentation that works in education through sound, with the aim of promoting a creation based pedagogy, as well as promoting new forms of learning and contemporary thinking. The project seeks to generate community through collective creation, play and reflection, addressing issues of gender and cultural diversity that promote attitudes of collaboration, trust and respect.
Music (sound) is a tool that facilitates concentration and encounter with the inner world of people of any age and origin. Using this channel, Sonora wishes to facilitate transformative experiences through sound to build other imaginary and stimulate the ecological consciousness that helps us perceive the planet as a living being to which we belong and NOT as an object that belongs to us.
DE LA RAIZ AL NOISE -RARE MUSIC FESTIVAL-
De la Raíz al Noise ( From Roots to Noise ) is a festival created by Selu Herraiz with the idea of generate new communities around sound and affect diverse audiences.
The proposal is a sound program that draws the spectrum between traditional music and post-industrial sound. A unique sound specially created for the event by experimental artists interested in both poles.
