Munda is the experimental sound research space for Selu Herraiz (they/he) to reflect on the contemporary relationships between daily life and ritual; navigating the interstices between the conscious and the unconscious, ancient wisdom and current knowledge; where physical and spiritual reality are synchronized in common rhythms giving rise to symbolic worlds that open portals to the unknown.

As a sound artist and instrument builder they are interested in alchemic listening, approaching creation in close relation with the territory and the non-human voices that inhabit it. The sound of Munda travels from the primitive and raw to psychedelic electronica, clearly permeated by rhythms and harmonies of traditional Mediterranean cultures and captivated by the Sufi heritage that flourished in the valleys of southern Spain during the Al-Andalus era. Working with DIY instruments, field recordings, objets, analog synthesizers and digital software they give rise to compositions in which fluid environments and textural cinematic scenes emerge, sometimes accompanied by slow and mantric polyrhythms that are an invitation to trance.?

Curator at Aldarrax Label and Founder of Rota –community based festival–. Member of AADK Spain, a platform based in the rural environment of Ricote Valley (Spain). Their work has been shown in spaces and festivals such as Morphine Raum, Arkaoda, 90mil, Hau, Zero Point (Berlin), Ayrarat (Yerevan), Worm Studio (Rotterdam), Tsonami (Valparaiso), Qu-o2 (Brussels), Tanz Kongress 2019 (Dresden), Cumplicidades Festival (Lisbon), Media Art Festival (Leuvardeen), Media Lab Prado, MNCA Reina Sofía (Madrid), Hiroshima, Konvent and Pumarejo (Barcelona) among others places in cities like Palermo, Riga, Lille, Katowice, Fanlo or Córdoba (Argentina).
